Spraoi - Props Making Made Fun (and Easy)

Sometimes you have to make your own fun, luckily we've rounded up some of our favorite pageant companies to guide you on the way.

Street arts specialists Spraoí are inviting audiences behind the scenes for an online prop-making workshop at St. Patrick’s Festival 2021.

The Celtic Super Heroes themed family art session will be broadcast via SPFTV and presented from Spraoí Studios by Artistic Director Mike Leahy and artist Magda Karol. Using everyday material, families can make a Celtic SuperHero headpiece with all the steps you’ll need to take clearly explained. It’s kitchen table art and fun for audiences everywhere, and you’ll be able to wear it!

Magda is a professional Polish artist living and working in Waterford. So to celebrate Ireland’s spirit of inclusivity, this online workshop will be co-presented in Polish, the second most spoken language in Ireland today.

This year Spraoí and St. Patrick’s Festival are celebrating twenty-five-years of co-creating parade magic on Dublin streets. Spraoí has performed in every parade since 1997. 2021 offers something new; for the first time audiences can visit Spraoí Studios online and make their own inventive magic at home.

Join us in a series of workshops supported by RTE, exploring each element of parade pageantry to help you to create your own spectacular Virtual Parade. Get creative, learn how to make props, costumes and headdresses then find out about pageant choreography and movement to give your Virtual Parade that touch of magic.

Award winning Waterford Spraoí entertains audiences all over Ireland. Based in Ireland’s only purpose-built street arts creation centre, Spraoí is community centred and combines professional art-making with involvement by people of all ages from every walk of life. Founded in 1993, the company presents an annual international street arts festival in Waterford.

And, of course, don't forget to share your Virtual Parade with us on social media!
